Expansion and pressure binds soils together

POLYTEK 360’s skilled site technicians solve weak soil problems by injecting polyurethane foams into the affected area at predetermined depths. These materials expand through the soil and exert pressure of 50 tonnes per m2. POLYTEK 360 material binds non-cohesive soils together at the same time as its expansion results in compaction, compression and densification of the treated and adjacent soils.

Apply Permeation and/or Compaction Grouting Methods

Depending on the nature of the soil stabilization problem, POLYTEK 360 professionals will apply either permeation or compaction grouting, or a combination of the two. The reaction time of the material, and thus its permeation capacity, is controlled by formulation, amount of catalyst, and equipment temperature settings. Once the outer layers of the foam begin to solidify, soil compaction begins, controlled by injection pressures and the expansive forces of the continuously injected resin.

Here’s How Soil Stabilization Works

A POLYTEK 360 client representative visits your site, assesses the problem, and writes a report with recommended solutions.

For best results in soil stabilization, we recommend that the client obtain an engineer’s geotech report. This report is a must for commercial sites.POLYTEK 360 has contract engineers on call that will analyze your site and develop the report.

Now, POLYTEK 360 is on site and getting ready to work. In combination with the report, the POLYTEK 360 technician will conduct an on-site assessment to precisely tailor the solution to the identified problem.

Next, the POLYTEK 360 technician drills a series of holes in the surface, using a ¾ in. drill bit in a staggered 4 ft. grid pattern.

Copper tubes are driven down the drilled holes to the appropriate depth.

Injection begins. On average, about 40 lbs. of material are injected into each copper tube, but this varies depending on the extent of the soil density problem.

The technician uses his experience and knowledge of equipment and material feedback to determine when the area to be filled has reached capacity.

After just 15 minutes, the newly injected materials are 90% cured. Your soil stabilization problems are solved, and the treated area is ready to be put back into service.
